Kristen Stewart’s Big Break

Everyone’s favourite awkward/anti-Hollywood/Snow White/Vampire star Kristen Stewart has made it onto the cover of Vanity Fair July 2012. This one more than makes up for the US ELLE disaster. Not only is the cover quite striking but the spread inside (photographed by Mario Testino) is nothing short of spectacular.

It seems the magazine had the choice to put an iconic photo of Pitt, Streep and Cruise on their cover – and yet they went with Stewart. The shoot shows her going about her day in fabulous couture and chilling with Karl Lagerfeld. It’s not just the clothes, locations and Lagerfeld that make this shoot special… Kristen has a new air of confidence and power about her. This isn’t just another shoot – it’s the birth of a fashion star.

From The Fairest Of Them All

After the premiere last night, hype is building for the new Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart blockbuster, Snow White and the Huntsman. What does this have to do with fashion, you ask? Well, not only are our leading ladies on the covers of the world’s leading fashion magazines, but the mood of the film picks up exactly where some of the AW 12 shows left off…

The darkness that consumes the promos immediately made me think of Gucci, and Kristen’s armour points right to Balmain. So here they are: three outfits from each show. Take them as inspiration for what to wear when you watch the movie. (or what Kristen and Charlize might wear at the premieres)

Gucci AW12

Balmain AW12

Left: Charlize on the May cover of UK VOGUE. Right: Kristen on the June cover of UK ELLE.

And here they are at last night’s premiere. Charlize looks incredible in Dior Haute Coture and Kristen looks, um, like that in Marchesa. I’m thinking she should have gone with a Balmain dress and me as a stylist.

The Biggest Night In Fashion

When it comes to dressing up, The Met Ball is definitely the event that requires the most fashion IQ. Because unlike the Oscars or the Grammy’s, this event is about fashion. This year, the exhibition being celebrated is called Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations. Naturally some of the best outfits were Prada, and although I don’t have a picture of Miuccia just yet, here are the best red carpet fashion moments to keep you occupied.

Chanel Iman in Tom Ford… With Tom Ford.

Mia Wasikowska in Prada

Rooney Mara in Givenchy

Marion Cotillard in Dior

Lea Michele in a Diane von Furstenberg dress and bag, Christian Louboutin shoes and Lorraine Schwartz earrings

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry

Anna Wintour in Prada

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga

Beyonce in Givenchy

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce and Gabbana

Rihanna in a Tom Ford dress and Christian Louboutin heels

Emma Stone in Lanvin

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte

Florence Welch in Alexander McQueen

Carey Mulligan in Prada

Kristen For Collectors’

Hah! I tracked it down!

Here is the Kristen Stewart ELLE UK June 2012 collectors’ cover. Love it (knew I would), LOVE the copy. I think that’s Miu Miu she’s wearing…. But I’ll have to verify.

If you haven’t seen the official Kristen cover, check it out HERE.

I’ve been anticipating this cover for a while now, and thankfully it didn’t disappoint. Next month, Beckham.

#KristenELLE Is Here!

It’s finally here! Kristen Stewart covering the June issueof ELLE UKwas never a secret, thanks to the British ELLEs Belles letting us follow their#KristenELLE shoot on Twitter.

I have a personal attachment to Kristen ELLE UK covers: she was on the first issue of ELLE UK I ever bought.I remember that day quite clearly: tracking halfway across the mall to get to CNA(thus pissing off my father) and desperately searching for the collectors’cover (not yet knowing you had to subscribe to get it) instead of the main one.

But enough with the nostalgia. This time round, Kristen islooking crisp and romantic at the same time in a Jil Sander SS12 ensemble. Unfortunately, the collectors’ cover hasn’t leaked yet. You’ll know as soon as it does.
